Sonic Unleashed and only a handful questions Sonic the Werehog all that much. After all they were rivals at one point so it wouldn't be an "ally" they would want to loose. But you see, Nintendo does have a good reason to keep Sega with them. If they actually make enough money or attention to be too independant then they could loose profit. Of course, Nintendo would have to keep a leash on Sega to make sure they don't get too big for there boots. It all adds up you see which is why Sega games on Nintendo consoles. If Nintendo has Sonic and other Sega games, then Sega's gamers (especially Sonic fans) wouldn't really have much of a choice but to buy GameCube and Wii consoles along with the other Nintendo fans. Since Nintendo won the war, they see to it that they take the "spoils of war". Throughout the 90s there has been a sort of sub-culture war stirred by Sega and Nintendo, with a mass of gamers seperating and taking sides (and a few who could afford both). With over a decade of business rivalry, why would Nintendo allow there old rival onto their consoles? Because the question in any business, games or other isn't usually "Should I?" but "What's in it for me?" Sega suffered from financial loss and because of this couldn't afford the technology to keep up with the development of consolesįor awhile now, I have believed that since Sega fell on hard times and having to quit making consoles, they are dependant on other consoles to accept there games such as Sony, Microsoft and even Nintendo.

The Dreamcast bombed because it was released too early before the polished off GameCube, XBox and PlayStation 2 stormed the market. I have not come without the points to proove it so here we are. Some would perhaps say I am 90s bias, perhaps even paranoid for seeing all this as a conspiracy. This is done through licencing but the companies can still say what goes on there consoles.Īll the more reason why I believe that Nintendo pretty much have Sega by the balls and that grip is only tightening by the year. We also must remember that games needs to be "approved" by those who own the consoles. It's more than just programming but in planning there are meetings and discussions on what the game can and can't have and what it goes through to become the game we know.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will arrive on May 15, 2012, for 1200 Microsoft Points on XBLA, and 14.99 for PSN and PC.As someone who wants to make games, I know what goes behind the development of a game. Will you be downloading Episode 2? Were you able to sneak a peek this weekend during the leak? Since Takashi Iikuza has remained tight-lipped on whether or not a third episode is in the works, a successful run here could be enough to entice him to continue. Hopefully Sonic 4: Episode 2 can win over enough fans to ensure that the Sonic franchise still goes strong from here on out.

Whether or not this will ensure the game's success remains to be seen, but this is still a good sign. Another commented that "you don't lose forward momentum when you jump and rolling does pick up speed down slopes," so at least Sonic Team is aware of the fan complaints and are trying to answer them. You can see some screencaps from the accidental release below.Īfter giving Sonic 4: Episode 2 a try, one player noted that a few issues present in the previous game are now fixed, such as the momentum problems. The game was only up for a short time, however, as Sega quickly caught wind of the leak and deleted all news of it from their official forums, then got Steam to remove the game, too. The released beta was filled with bugs and texture errors, as expected, but players were still able to try out the game for a short while, and get a taste of what's to come - including the game's bonus stages, which are reportedly a throwback to the 3D-esque stages from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. One player was able to screencap downloading the game before it was removed from Steam.

Those who have been waiting patiently for Episode 2's release date wound up getting a rather pleasant surprise last weekend, as an incomplete version of the game was accidentally released on Steam for a brief period of time before quickly being removed from the online service - though not before some users were able to download and try the game for themselves. That, and the promise of being able to play as Metal Sonic if you have both episodes, make Episode 2 a highly-anticipated game among many players. After what some felt was a lack-luster return to form in the previous episode (read our iPhone review of Sonic 4: Episode 1 here), expectations are high for the second part to make improvements where the first part failed. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 is almost here, and many Sonic fans are waiting with bated breath for the latest instalment in the long-running franchise.
